Leemur: an Interactive Reading App That Captivated Thousands of Users. A Real Case of iOS and Android Development

From an Entrepreneur’s Vision to the Backing of a Major Publisher

In a market saturated with generic apps, standing out requires more than a good idea. It takes a clear vision, entrepreneurial experience, and a team capable of turning that vision into a product. That’s exactly what Ángel María Herrera brought to the table—founder of projects like Bubok, Iniciador, and Éxito360—when he approached us to develop Leemur: an interactive reading app in chat format designed to engage new readers via mobile.

Our collaboration began at a very early stage of the project, working side by side to build a solid, scalable product with a unique user experience. Shortly after, the app was acquired by Editorial Planeta, becoming part of their youth digital reading offering and remaining active for over four years.

Custom Development of Native Applications

Leemur was developed entirely from scratch, with native apps for iOS and Android. Our approach was clear: to build a robust technological foundation that would support growth, iteration, and sustainable monetization.

These were some of its main features:

  • Chat-based reading format, supporting text, images, sound, interactive choices, and more.
  • Freemium model, with free access to part of the content and premium content available via subscriptions or micropayments.
  • Integration with native subscription systems (App Store / Google Play), following their flows and technical requirements.
  • User account and profile system, with progress tracking, story following, and personalized recommendations.
  • Administration panel to manage stories, authors, stats, and day-to-day operations.
  • Payment and micropayment system, with granular access control to unlockable content.

Beyond the technical development, we supported the client in key decisions: validating features, onboarding flows, payment experience, and scaling the product after its acquisition by Planeta.

A Chapter We Proudly Close

Like many innovative initiatives, Leemur had its cycle. After several years of activity and thousands of users around the world, the app came to a close following a strategic shift at the editorial level. For us, it was a real pleasure to collaborate on such an original, bold, and well-led project from the very beginning. Being part of this entrepreneurial story reaffirms our mission: to create technology that delivers real value and to support those who dare to build something different.
